Associate Director, Art Museum Development

Princeton University Art Museum

Princeton, New Jersey

With a collecting history that extends back to 1755, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the leading university art museums in the country, with collections that have grown to include more than 100,000 works ranging from ancient to contemporary art and spanning the globe. A private institution serving the public good, the Museum is committed to serving the University, local and regional communities, and beyond through a dynamic program of temporary exhibitions, new scholarship, and innovative programming. The Museum advances critical thinking and visual literacy at Princeton University and also serves as a gateway to the University for more than 200,000 visitors from around the world each year.

The Museum is preparing for dramatic growth, including a new facility being designed by Sir David Adjaye. Fundraising and planning are well underway, with construction anticipated to occur over the next five years; an aggressive plan to secure new capital giving, endowment, and annual support must now be developed and implemented.

The Opportunity

The Associate Director, Art Museum Development (AD-D), in partnership with the Director, will be the chief development officer for the Museum, taking the lead to shape and deliver ambitious goals that grow and diversify the Museum’s philanthropic revenue streams. The successful candidate will be an innovative development professional with a demonstrated ability to make the case for giving to the arts and humanities. Focusing on strategy, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship as well as campus and community collaborations, the AD-D will manage a high-quality team, empowering others to be successful front-line fundraisers.
