Director of Philanthropy

Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center

Onsite Newburyport, Massachusetts

For more than four decades, the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center (JGCC) has been a steadfast source of safety, advocacy, and healing for survivors of intimate partner and domestic violence across northeastern Massachusetts. Deeply rooted in its mission to empower individuals and engage communities to end domestic violence, the Center offers an integrated array of free services including crisis response, counseling, legal support, housing assistance, and therapeutic programming. This survivor-centered approach is strengthened by a philosophy that safety is a collective responsibility, one shared across neighborhoods, agencies, and systems.

Beyond direct service, JGCC has emerged as a national thought leader advancing prevention, early intervention, and systemic change. Its Youth Empowerment Services equip young people with tools to build healthy relationships, while the organization’s nationally recognized Domestic Violence High-Risk Team model has transformed how communities across the United States address and prevent domestic violence homicides. With the recent launch of the Geiger Institute, JGCC’s impact now reaches hundreds of communities nationwide through training, technical assistance, and strategic partnerships.

The Opportunity

The Director of Philanthropy will play a central role in shaping this next era of growth by imagining, building, and leading a more sophisticated, relationship-driven development enterprise.

Serving as a key member of the senior leadership team and a close partner to the CEO and Board, this leader will design a multi-year fundraising strategy that deepens major donor engagement, develops new national philanthropic partnerships, and strengthens the systems and culture needed for long-term sustainability.

This is a moment of opportunity for a strategic, creative, and mission-driven fundraiser energized by both building and scaling. The Director of Philanthropy will build and manage a portfolio of 100–150 prospects, lead a small but dedicated team, and partner closely with leadership to expand the organization’s reach, visibility, and philanthropic ambition. They will bring expertise in major gifts, a commitment to donor-centric relationship-building, and the storytelling skills required to articulate the life-changing and life-saving impact of JGCC’s work.

The salary range for this position is $160,000 – $190,000.
