The Medulloblastoma Initiative (MBI) was founded in 2021 through the shared vision of entrepreneur Fernando Goldsztein and Dr. Roger J. Packer of Children’s National Hospital. Dedicated to transforming the future of pediatric brain cancer research, MBI raises and directs private philanthropic funding to advance collaborative research on Group 4 medulloblastoma, the most common and least understood pediatric brain cancer. Through the Cure Group 4 Consortium, MBI unites 16 research laboratories across the United States, Canada, and Germany in pursuit of more effective, less toxic treatments.
With visibility in global media and partnerships with leading research institutions, MBI is expanding its impact by connecting visionary donors to groundbreaking science. The organization’s focus is both urgent and personal: to accelerate discoveries that give children and families a real chance at cure and quality of life.
The Opportunity
The inaugural Executive Director of the Medulloblastoma Initiative will join at a defining moment, one that blends entrepreneurial growth with mission-driven urgency.
Partnering closely with MBI’s founder and the Children’s National Hospital team, this leader will shape a sustainable organizational infrastructure and build a dynamic fundraising strategy capable of fueling $3–$5 million annually.
As MBI continues to expand its national and international profile, the Executive Director will serve as a bridge between science and philanthropy, articulating a vision that inspires donors, galvanizes collaboration, and accelerates research outcomes.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven leader who thrives in start-up environments, brings proven expertise in major and principal gifts, and is deeply motivated by the opportunity to transform how pediatric cancer research is funded worldwide.
The salary range for this position is $175,000 – $205,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
