Dell Medical School is the newest of 18 colleges and schools at UT Austin and the first new medical school at a top-tier Association for American Universities research university in nearly 50 years. Now in its fifth year, the school is fully enrolled, with a rapidly growing clinical enterprise at UT Health Austin, and a new approach to health innovation that harnesses the university’s vast research expertise.

The University of Texas is heading into its next campaign — anticipated to be one of the largest and most ambitious campaigns in public higher education. Transforming health is one of four campaign pillars, and the fundraising priorities of Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin have the full support of the president, provost and regents. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture the attention of generous philanthropists ready to invest in shaping the future of medical education, care and research.

The Opportunity

The Director of Development, Principal Gifts for the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes will raise major and principal gifts in support of the Institutes and the related departments of oncology, internal medicine, and all cancer-related philanthropic opportunities at Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin. This professional will, simply put, impact cancer care. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Development, who reports directly to the Dean of Dell Medical School.

Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin have attracted philanthropic investment from community leaders, as well as the UT alumni base — with nearly 500,000 living alumni. Drawing from these pools, the Director of Development, Principal Gifts, will work build her/his own portfolio of 75-100 of the most generous and philanthropic donors interested in supporting the Dell Medical School/UT Health Austin enterprise’s person-centered approach, which focuses on the patient’s needs, values, and preferences from prevention to diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care. The person in this role will also manage the relationship with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, the Institutes’ founding donor.
