Associate Vice President, Development

University of Minnesota Foundation

Minneapolis, Minnesota

The University of Minnesota System is one of the most comprehensive in the nation, with offerings to meet the interests of every student and the changing needs of our society. UMN is proud of their land-grant mission of world-class education, groundbreaking research, and community-engaged outreach, and they are unified in their drive to serve Minnesota.

With five distinct campuses— Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, and Twin Cities— UMN serves all regions of the state. Each campus has unique strengths, enriched by its surrounding communities, and all are focused on meeting the needs of students and the state.

The University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) is a key partner with the University in building and sustaining excellence among students and faculty and fueling discovery. UMF accomplishes this by raising and managing gifts from individuals and organizations. Through collaboration with University leaders and development officers, UMF staff ensure that fundraising activities are consistent with the University’s highest priorities and the donor’s philanthropic intentions.

The Opportunity

UMF seeks to hire a strategic, diplomatic, and highly organized leader to serve as Associate Vice President for Development (AVP). The AVP will play a vital role in maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Foundation’s work, by leveraging highly productive teams and managing strategic projects and initiatives in support of UMN. In this critical position, the AVP will serve as a member of a senior development leadership team and assume comprehensive fundraising responsibilities in support of the units, colleges, and campuses of UMN.

This position is an opportunity for a dynamic and engaging professional to influence, represent, and lead across all sectors of the University on behalf of the Foundation. The AVP will first and foremost be a connector and bridge builder, focused on the highest-level servant leadership. This individual will demonstrate strength in management, unimpeachable integrity, superb judgment, emotional intelligence, and a passion for the University’s land-grant mission.
