Senior Director, Principal and Major Gifts

Boston Children’s Hospital Trust

Onsite Boston, Massachusetts

Boston Children’s Hospital Trust is the philanthropic engine behind one of the most respected pediatric healthcare institutions in the world. As the dedicated fundraising arm of Boston Children’s Hospital, the Trust supports groundbreaking research, clinical innovation, education, and community-based care that improves child health locally and globally. With more than 200 development professionals, the Trust operates within a collaborative, goal-driven culture grounded in excellence, accountability, and shared purpose.

Over the past two decades, Boston Children’s philanthropy program has achieved remarkable growth, now generating approximately $200 million annually. This success is fueled by a deeply engaged Trust Board, strong partnerships with clinical and scientific leaders, and a commitment to being an “ever-on” Workplace of Choice. The Trust places a high value on staff engagement, open communication, and a culture that reflects its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, all in service of advancing pediatric healthcare at the highest level.

The Opportunity

Boston Children’s Hospital Trust is seeking a Senior Director, Principal and Major Gifts to join its fundraising team at a pivotal moment. The organization is preparing for a comprehensive, multi-billion-dollar campaign that will support transformative advances in child health and significantly expand philanthropic impact.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Principal and Major Gifts, the Senior Director will manage a portfolio of approximately 80 to 100 ultra-high-net-worth individuals with the capacity for seven- and eight-figure commitments. The role carries responsibility for securing $3 million to $5 million annually while guiding donors through the full relationship continuum, from identification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship. Success will depend on the ability to align institutional priorities with donor interests in ways that are strategic, thoughtful, and enduring.

The Senior Director will work closely with senior leadership, medical faculty, Trust Board members, and highly engaged volunteers, including leadership of signature initiatives such as the Boston Investment Conference and the Venture Philanthropy Network. This position requires a sophisticated fundraiser who can translate complex science for donors, build relationships beyond traditional pipelines, and mentor junior staff within a high-achieving, results-oriented culture.

For a seasoned frontline fundraiser, this is an important opportunity to shape the future of pediatric healthcare at an institution defined by both legacy and possibility.

The salary range for this role is $235,000-$275,000.
