Vice President of Development

Measures for Justice

Rochester, New York

Measures for Justice (MFJ) was founded in 2011 with a simple theory of change: good data in the hands of the right people will generate positive change. MFJ CEO, Amy Bach, knows very few communities can look within themselves and see how they are doing on interactions with police relating to race, sex, and age. This nonpartisan organization does not identify individuals or take sides in conflict, or advocate for anyone. Measures for Justice provides the data. The data are supporting communities across the country as they dig in, sit down, and have hard conversations about how the criminal justice system is doing, backed with the facts to ultimately effect change. Systemic reform is slow, but as momentum builds to address deep inequities in the criminal justice system, MFJ is determined to provide the data needed to create a better, more equitable justice system.

The Opportunity

Because dismantling systemic racism takes time, MFJ’s commitment to stay the course is evidenced by the addition of a Vice President of Development (VP) to the senior leadership team. The incoming VP will build the fundraising arm of MFJ from the ground up, elevate the visibility of its work, and diversify funding streams for a sustainable future. The inaugural Vice President of Development will be the resident fundraising expert, working hand in hand with the CEO to build the case for support that will attract individual donors to MFJ’s mission.

The best-matched candidate will possess a creative entrepreneurial spirit and act in deliberate, and strategic ways to create an effective development operation in a dynamic environment. This individual will work with all stakeholders — including the Board of Directors, community partners, legislators, staff, and more. The VP will serve with energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and know-how, to identify, cultivate, and generate revenue for the organization.
