Director of Gift Planning

Colby College

Waterville, Maine

Founded in 1813, Colby College is the 12th oldest liberal arts college in the nation and is one of America’s most selective colleges. Colby re-imagines the liberal arts experience – providing access to a global experience, research, and internships for all students regardless of their background. Colby’s history is extraordinary, but there has never been a more dynamic and exciting time for the College. Colby is in a period of fast-paced progress — defined by ambitious institutional priorities to reimagine student opportunity and post-graduate success.

The Opportunity

Colby is seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced gift planning professional to be its next Director of Gift Planning. The Director will formulate and implement strategies to maximize philanthropic revenues through the full range of gift planning vehicles and instruments and will provide a proactive and collaborative approach to gift planning across Advancement.

The Director will bring a depth of knowledge and best practices to the role, including an understanding of the full range of planned giving vehicles, up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and other proposed and pending legislation impacting planned giving, and the use of marketing strategies to develop and continually add to a robust planned giving prospect pool. They will lead and motivate a small team and successfully manage their own portfolio of individual prospects.
