Climate Nexus was formed in 2011 to change the national dialogue on climate change. It was created as a behind-the-scenes connector, to ensure coherent, effective climate communications and to elevate the work of a broad network of partners, from grassroots to the government. Over the past decade, Climate Nexus, with its network of partners, has moved the public debate beyond whether climate change is happening toward how we strengthen commitments to climate action. Climate Nexus has helped alter the public will for action on climate change, which has soared, reshaping U.S. politics and policy.
The Opportunity
Climate Nexus is seeking an inaugural Senior Director of Development (SDD) to strategically lead and advance all fundraising and development activities. The SDD will partner with the Executive Director and senior staff to develop and execute a comprehensive and cohesive fundraising program that will build upon its success and advance the goals of Climate Nexus. Emphasis will be on major and principal philanthropic giving from foundations and individuals.
A bold fundraiser with proven experience driving results, the SDD will bring professional expertise and new ideas and approaches to work. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, skilled communicator, and bridge builder with a demonstrated ability to forge partnerships across a complex organization. The SDD will encounter willing and passionate partners who are engaged in fundraising and are eager to help grow the program. An understanding of and appreciation for climate change and clean energy is a plus.
