Chief Impact Officer

Eastern Bank Foundation

Boston, Massachusetts

Eastern Bank Foundation (EBF) is the fifth-most charitable organization in Massachusetts and in the top 10 for the past five years, according to the Boston Business Journal, with nearly $300 million in assets and annual donations of more than $14 million. EBF is entirely funded by Eastern Bank and serves as its charitable arm.

Eastern Bank Foundation combines philanthropy, corporate volunteerism, advocacy, and collaborations to maximize impact. They partner with community leaders to combine resources, broaden the base, and drive solutions. They listen to their geographic and demographic communities, use their voice to advocate for bold systemic change that advances equity, and rally community partners and corporations to broaden support for change.

The Opportunity

Eastern Bank Foundation is seeking a Chief Impact Officer who possesses a proven track record of effective leadership and recognized community impact. This newly created role comes with the recognition that the deep level of exponential impact the Foundation has had in the last quarter-century needs additional strong talent and leadership to fulfill its full potential. The Chief Impact Officer will be experienced in grant-making and metrics. Their evolution to assess ongoing philanthropic efforts will be vital to EBF’s impact and they will have the long-term vision to innovate and guide EBF forward.

The unprecedented needs of the communities the Foundation serves will require the Chief Impact Officer to continue to sharpen the organization’s focus on addressing economic inclusion and mobility, which has become the centerpiece for the Foundation. The Foundation exists and operates in a community-centric way, encouraging shared learning and collective problem-solving.

The Chief Impact Officer will be a visible, integral, and engaging representation of the vision and values of the Foundation. They will embody the mission of equity and partner internally and externally to advance inclusion, despite the current climate and continuing social and economic inequities.
