Associate Dean for Development, Engineering

New York University

New York, New York

Founded in 1831, New York University is the largest private university in the United States and an internationally distinguished research university, with a global alumni base of more than 600,000. NYU has built strength in every dimension of the University: program reputation, faculty eminence, research portfolio, arts and science, medical enterprise, and engineering and applied sciences.

NYU Tandon is a leading engineering institution and second-oldest private engineering school in the United States that delivers extraordinary education for students and pioneers research that changes the world. The goal of The Tandon Torch – Strategic Plan 2019 is to work towards making communities healthy and sustainable through its work on creating assistive technology to increase accessibility and livability for all.

The Opportunity

New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering continues its meteoric rise by jumping three positions in the U.S. News & World Report 2022 rankings, rising 44 positions overall since 2009. This is an incredible opportunity for a new Associate Dean for Development, the School’s lead fundraiser, to partner with the Dean and leadership, and leverage support from New York University’s central Development and Alumni Relations office (UDAR), to construct a visionary strategic fundraising plan to fuel Tandon’s philanthropic success in keeping with its new rankings.

Critical to success in the role, the Associate Dean will take initiative to structure and guide the work of the Dean and leadership volunteers in their fundraising activities, in addition to carrying their own portfolio of major and principal-level prospects. The successful candidate will also have a knack for translating large, complex research ideas and initiatives into succinct, compelling narratives to attract and inspire the School’s donors, prospects, and alumni.

Directly managing a team of four professionals, the Associate Dean will bring a sophisticated yet humble leadership style, as well as deep experience diplomatically managing through influence across a complex work environment.
