Santa Clara University

Hybrid Santa Clara, California

Santa Clara University is a comprehensive Jesuit university located in Silicon Valley. It offers a rigorous undergraduate education in the arts and sciences, business and engineering, as well as nationally recognized graduate and professional schools in business, law, engineering, pastoral ministries, counseling psychology, education and theology.

As California’s oldest operating institution of higher learning, Santa Clara draws on the Jesuits’ more than 450-year tradition of educating the whole person for a life of service and leadership. It is distinctly characterized by a diverse community of scholars, small classes and values-oriented curriculum. Forbes lists Santa Clara in its top 100 “Best U.S. Colleges” and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance ranks the school 39th for “Best Value in Private Universities.”

The Opportunity

With a mission rooted in the Jesuit practice of striving for ever-higher levels of achievement for the common good, Santa Clara aspires to an even greater role in building a more humane, just, and sustainable world. The University’s Development Division is an extension of this inspiring philosophy. Celebrating the successful conclusion of a $1 billion campaign, the team is setting its sights on its next major milestone.

To imagine new possibilities and reach new heights, Santa Clara seeks an Assistant Vice President of Philanthropy Services (AVP) who will lead a robust and efficient team of 30 full-time employees across the areas of advancement services, campaigns, donor relations, and prospect management and analytics.

As the AVP ensures cohesion within the Philanthropy Services team, they will also play a vital role in promoting success and efficiency across the University’s Development Division.

The AVP should bring a track record of creating efficient and effective systems, expertise in advancement services best practices, and an ability to inspire the team to reach their highest potential. Forward-thinking leaders who value community, transparency, collaboration, and high performance will thrive at SCU.

The salary range for this position is $164,200 – $229,900, commensurate with experience.
