Director of Individual Giving

American Conservatory Theater

Onsite San Francisco, California

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) is a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theater that serves nearly 200,000 individuals annually in the San Francisco Bay Area through innovative performances, transformative education programs, and dynamic community engagement initiatives. It is a vibrant cultural hub that champions diversity of voices, promotes inclusivity, and inspires audiences to celebrate the power of live theater with values—embracing inclusion, transformational learning, and rigorous fun—that are deeply woven into its work and impact.

Recognized nationally as a leader in its field, A.C.T. also has a rich history of nurturing talent through its artist training programs and engaging over 15,000 young people, educators, and community members annually with immersive theater experiences. As a vital part of the arts ecosystem, A.C.T. continues to captivate audiences and foster creativity across generations.

The Opportunity

A.C.T. seeks a forward-thinking and results-oriented Director of Individual Giving (DoIG) to drive individual and major gift fundraising efforts, overseeing a team of three professionals.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the DoIG will play a pivotal role in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors while overseeing key fundraising strategies. This is a chance to help shape the theater’s future through innovative campaigns, including a forthcoming effort to renovate the historic Toni Rembe Theater and grow A.C.T.’s endowment.

The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, a proven ability to secure transformational gifts, and the enthusiasm to collaborate across departments to maximize A.C.T.’s impact.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to align personal passion for the arts with meaningful, high-impact work.

The salary range for this position is $155,000-plus.
