Major Gifts Officer

International House

New York, New York

Celebrating its Centennial in 2024, International House (I-House) and its Morningside Heights headquarters have long served as an anchor to the international student community in New York City. For close to 100 years, it has transformed the lives of more than 65,000 alumni, who include not only Nobel Prize winners, heads of state, award-winning authors, singers, actors, and CEOs, but teachers, doctors, small business owners, community leaders, and volunteers throughout the world. I-House achieves its mission of preparing leaders for the global community by building core values: Respect, Empathy, and Moral Courage.

The Opportunity

I-House seeks a Major Gifts Officer (MGO) to join a growing team of six development professionals currently raising $3.5 million annually. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, collaborative, and resourceful people person who can serve as a leader and role model, working to establish and exemplify best practices for the team.

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, Alumni Relations, and Communications, the MGO will raise philanthropic support from alumni, friends, and trustees, and identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward their own portfolio of donors and prospects.

The MGO will have the opportunity to help grow the team and create initiatives to enhance I-House’s fundraising and alumni relations activities. The successful candidate will also support collaborative efforts to plan, design, build, and continuously improve I-House’s advancement operations.

As a member of the I-House team, the MGO will be intellectually curious; have excellent communication skills; think proactively and take initiative; have a can-do, customer service-oriented attitude; and embody I-House’s core values of respect, empathy, and moral courage.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000.
