Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research

New Haven, Connecticut

A forerunner in advancing research into the causes and treatment of cancer, the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund (the JCC Fund) was established in 1937 by the spouse and sister of Jane Coffin Childs. The Fund’s original commitment to cancer has endured, but over time its focus and resources have expanded to include an interest in fundamental scientific research into a broad range of human conditions. With the support of a prominent Board of Advisors, the JCC Fund awards 25 prestigious three-year fellowships per year to promising postdoctoral scientists. Since its inception, JCC Fellows, numbering more than 1500, have had far-reaching impact on the scientific understanding of the causes of disease and the creation of more effective and compelling ways to prevent, diagnose, treat, and cure it.

The Opportunity

Having just completed a three-year strategic plan (2022–2024), the JCC Board of Managers has affirmed and provided direction for the Fund’s future and has set the stage for a leadership and operating platform that will position the Fund for growth and even greater impact. The next step is to identify a new Executive Director to lead JCC into the future and drive the transformational strategies that emerged during the strategic planning process: modernizing operating systems, building a more engaged alumni network, diversifying the field of Fellows, developing a pipeline of philanthropic supporters for increased fundraising, and creating a more robust communications strategy.

If you are dedicated to the boundless possibilities of fundamental scientific research, relish the potential of advancing the next generation of scientific thinkers, and are an intrepid organizational and operations manager who can work independently while building close relationships with board members, scientists, and Fellows, this may the perfect opportunity for you.
