Director of Corporate Relations and Business Development

University of Virginia

Charlottesville, Virginia

Founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819, the University of Virginia (UVA) sustains the ideals of developing, through education, leaders who are well prepared to help shape the future of the nation and the world. UVA is an iconic public institution of higher education, boasting nationally ranked schools and programs, diverse and distinguished faculty, a major academic medical center, and proud history as a renowned research university. The community and culture of the University are enriched by active student self-governance, sustained commitment to the arts, and a robust NCAA Division I Athletics program.

The Opportunity

UVA is seeking a seasoned fundraising leader in the newly created position of Director of Corporate Relations and Business Development. As a senior member of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team within central University Advancement, the Director will reimagine what is possible for university-industry partnerships with the goal of transforming the UVA into a leader at the cutting edge of this cross-sector work by building industry connection across every area of the University: research, teaching, innovation, operations, student recruitment, and more. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and unafraid to lead an organization through a paradigm shift, taking bold risks to help the University and its partners tackle the most urgent and complex challenges facing our world today. The Director will be a self-starter, proactive, and highly collaborative and have prior experience in corporate relations either in a university or corporate setting.
