Senior Major Gifts Officer

Conservation Law Foundation

Boston, Massachusetts

Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) uses the law, science, and the market to solve the New England region’s most challenging environmental problems from climate change to water pollution to community problems like childhood lead poisoning. Every day, CLF advocates stand up for New Englanders—in state houses, court houses and board rooms, regulatory hearings and community gatherings—to forge innovative paths to environmental progress and economic prosperity. To that end, CLF works with communities of color, and those that are economically or otherwise disadvantaged, which often suffer disproportionately the impacts of environmental degradation.

Creating solutions that preserve and restore our natural resources, build healthy and resilient communities, and sustain a vibrant economy, CLF is protecting New England’s environment for the benefit of all people and future generations.

The Opportunity

The Senior Major Gifts Officer (SMGO) is a pivotal position with the potential to impact and improve CLF’s development program in a major way. Working closely with the Vice President of Development, the SMGO will develop and implement the strategic and tactical goals of CLF’s major gifts efforts. Responsibilities include collaborating with CLF advocates (attorneys), board members and senior management to identify, qualify and maximize existing and potential donors; planning and implementing funding campaigns, events and activities for major gift donors; and providing a high degree of responsiveness to both internal and external constituencies. Eight years of fundraising experience with an emphasis on major gifts is required; a strong interest in the environment and/or a history of environmental advocacy is preferred. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to assimilate complex issues/programs and have the skill to convey their content in a succinct, coherent way, is required.
